Dr. Kamal Shemisa (9/2024, Multiple Books)

Dear Mr. Andrews, thank you for the exciting reading. I thoroughly enjoy your police novels and can’t wait to read The New Recruit.

Kim via Goodreads (8/2024, Multiple Books)

I want to write this review not only for this particular book by R. Barry Andrews but for ALL of his books.

I have read every one of his books and want to give a BIG FIVE STAR for each and every book as they are spellbinding, exciting stories that you can relate to. I know every time I started to read one of his books, I couldn’t put it down until I was finished with it (I had to force myself to put down the book).

So if you like adventure and stories that are lifelike, I recommend you reading each and every book by R. Barry Andrews.

Charles Horstman (4/2024, “The New Recruit”)

I was a Cincinnati Police Officer for 28 years. I saw many familiar events in this very good book. It is a riveting tale of the emotional toll suffered by most cops during their careers. I would recommend it to all who want to explore the reality of police life.

Barry draws you in from the beginning. Loved all the trials and tribulations of being an old recruit.

Keith McBreen (3/2024, “The Female Recruit”)

My name is Keith McBreen. I bought a copy of The Female Recruit at the Bethel Tate Craft Show. I am on page 43 and am floored at what Lissa has gone through so far. If the rest of the novel is anything like I’ve already read. I guess I better put on a seatbelt. My wife told me that besides the Bible she has never seen me engrossed in a book like that before.

Nanny (3/2024, “The Female Recruit”)

I met this author in person at a craft fair and after speaking with him I purchased the book the female recruit. I am only 33 pages in and it has had me hooked from page 1. I have a ton of things to do and none will get done until I finish this book. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is an amazing book so far can’t wait to get further into the story. I will 100% be buying his other books as well.

RELEASE JANUARY, 2024

I enjoyed reading your newest novel. It is just as good as all of you others. I can’t wait for its release in January so I can purchase it and put it with my collection of your books.

Great job Barry! Keep writing those great books!

Judy Davidson (11/2023, “The New Recruit”)

The author does a great job of pulling you visually into Matt’s journey. Fast paced, you won’t get bored here! Literally could not put the book down! Read 308 pages in one sitting!

Jim Howarth (11/2023, “The Police Chief”)

I’m not a book person but it was a very easy read. Kept my attention, no problem.  Well done!

Kim Henderson (9/2023, “The Police Chief”)

GREAT book to read. ALL of Barry’s books are GREAT reads. So if you’re looking for a book to read, check out the books Barry has written. I have everyone and once I started reading each book, I didn’t want to stop until I reached the end. Very captivating.

Ramona DeSalvo (8/2023, “The New Recruit”)

Kellye Carpenter (5/2023, “The Female Recruit”)

I just finished, “The Female Recruit”. It was very good; at times I was in tears, others it was hell yea! I am totally going to read, “The New Recruit”next. I’m glad I saw your post. Thank you, you are a very awesome writer!

BobbieJo Watson (7/2022, “The New Recruit”)

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!

I liked everything about the book.  I’m an average reader but I found myself falling asleep with the book and couldn’t wait to get home to read.

Douglas Herberger (10/2021, “The New Recruit”)

I’ve known Barry for about 30 years.  He has always had a vast knowledge of law enforcement training topics.  I’m glad he has decided to share the semi-fictional stories.  On to the next in his series.  Thanks, Barry, for an awesome read.

Robert Hodapp (3/2021, “The Police Chief”)

Interesting story.

The story gives some good insight of what could happen from being a recruit to the pinnacle of his career as chief.

Jan (2/2020, “The New Recruit”)

Loved this book. Nice insight to see what police officers go through to become an officer. Not a path I would choose after reading this book. Very well written. This book took me through many emotions. Happy, scared, angry and emotional. The life these men and women go through on a daily basis is unbelievable. They truly deserve more respect than they receive. I am on to the next book in the series.

Deb S. (6/2019, “The Female Recruit”)

A deeper appreciation for those that serve the community.

I read this in one afternoon and evening. It is written in a narrator’s prospective, which is different for me, but didn’t distract me from the story line. I found it to be very interesting, following the ambition and career of a female police officer. It gave me a deeper appreciation for those that serve the community with meager wages and often little to no respect or appreciation.

Though this is book two in a fictional series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

I purchased this paperback directly from the author at Authors and Dancers Against Cancer (Author event 2019).

Stout (5/2019, “The New Recruit”)

Fantastic Read…!!

I have a whole new appreciation for police officers and the life they live protecting the people in our community. This book was filled with suspense and the emotions I felt is hard to describe. It’s also filled with facts about the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. A must read….

James P. Lunkenheimer (9/2018, “The New Recruit”)

A great book!  Up there with Joseph Wambaugh novels!

Wow!  I just finished the book!  All I can say, Barry, you did a great job.  It kept me interested and it was hard to put down.  I CAN’T WAIT to read your other books!  You are a blessed writer.  Keep up the GREAT WORK!

James P. Lunkenheimer (9/2018, “The Black Recruit”)

A must read police novel!

Wow! This book kept me on the edge of my seat! It was suspenseful, interesting, and hard to put down. It was well written. Barry, you outdid yourself! Keep then coming. I still say “you’re up there with Joseph Wambaugh “ I can’t wait to read your next book! Thanks!

James P. Lunkenheimer (9/2018, “The Female Recruit”)

Wow! A must read, up there with Joseph Wambaugh!

Great Book! It’s a must read. It kept me on the edge of my seat! Suspenseful, Intriguing, and Action packed! I :-> how Barry incorporated parts of his first book! I’ve read all the Joseph Wambaugh books! To me, Barry’s books rate up there. Keep them coming! I’m your #1 Fan!

Colin Campbell (UK) (4/2017, “The New Recruit”)

Excellent non-typical account of a new recruit to USA policing as a uniformed officer.

Vivian Hanawalt (12/2016, “The New Recruit”)

This has been the first book that I have read in a long time that “got” and “kept” my attention shortly after I got into it…..I couldn’t put it down until I finally got too sleepy to read….but I did read the entire book within a 24 hour period. It took my emotions on a roller coaster ride….it is a reminder of what our police force and their families go thru on a daily basis to protect us…..and most people don’t even realize it. I think that everyone should read it. The ending will knock your socks off!

Kindle Customer (11/2016, “The New Recruit”)

I really enjoyed this book.  It kept my interest throughout the entire book with all the suspense as to what will happen next.

Gale Domanco (11/2016, “The New Recruit”)

This book is a very good read…it has all the elements of being a bestseller in my opinion.

Chris Mercurio (11/2016, “The New Recruit”)

It was an enjoyable read, and I liked all the references to the surrounding area.

Tom Ogden (11/2016, “The New Recruit”)

I enjoyed it…Cincy came back to me with some good memories.

Margaret Usher (UK) (11/2016, “The New Recruit”)

The introduction to the ‘hero’ made me think that was a spoilt brat and was going to take the easy way out.  His parents had made things too easy for him.  This enabled the metamorphosis into a keen officer to be a surprise.
