Officer Brian Sicknick became one of only five civilians to lay in state in the Capitol rotunda in what was a fitting salute to a true hero. His remains were moved to a waiting hearse with two lines of Capitol Police officers and hundreds more standing at attention in formation on a cold Washington morning. The procession to Arlington Cemetery was led by the Mountain Bike Patrol Unit of which the officer was a member. They were followed by two lines of motorcycles and a single line of trikes.
The Capitol was still on lockdown out of fears of protestors and the number of outside law enforcement agencies who would have participated was limited to Capitol officers and D. C. Metro Police
The nation was able to watch the event on FOX NEWS. Mainstream media, for whatever reason, chose to ignore it.
Police funerals are, as they should be, are resplendent with pageantry and are usually covered live on local media outlets because these are men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for society as a whole.
In a world where all respect for authority has been lost, there is a need to understand that without rules and laws, there is chaos.
Thank you Officer Siclnick for your service and sacrifice. You will always be in our hearts and prayers.
A fitting tribute
