R. Barry Andrews spent nearly half a century in and around policing. He was sworn in as a peace officer in 1978, served twenty-three years as a sworn private police officer in and for the City of Cincinnati, and founded the Police Training Institute, where he spent twenty-three years as Executive Director and put more than five thousand officers through its programs.
He writes novels about that world. They are set in Cincinnati, they follow officers from the academy to the street to the chief's office, and the procedure in them is accurate because he taught it for a living.

Each one follows a different officer through a career — the recruit, the chief, the partners, the man who came to the job late. They are set in Cincinnati, built on real procedure, and they can be read in any order.
